Summer is a fantastic time to start an Orton-Gillingham
based tutoring program! The following is a link to a fact sheet from the International Dyslexia
Association that describes multisensory, structured language teaching.
This approach, also known as the Orton-Gillingham approach, is the only
method proven by decades of independent, scientific research to significantly
improve the reading, writing, and spelling skills of individuals with dyslexia. At Brightwire Dyslexia Resource Clinic, we use the Barton
Reading and Spelling System, an Orton-Gillingham-based system that includes all
the elements of multisensory, structured language teaching. More of the same just doesn't work for students with
