“. . .and all the credit goes to Mrs. Deursch!” exclaimed Ryan as he handed me his NWEA scores.  He was so proud of the progress he had made in his reading scores. 

 

He was beaming, and the note from his teacher expressed her thrill and amazement.  Melissa Duersch’s determination to help her own son has driven her to make a difference for other children.

 

Her training and her natural compassion has given me great joy as a mother, and has given Ryan the gift of reading.  Now Ryan loves to read!  The confidence he has gained in his reading ability has affected his desire to try in all areas at school.  There is a way to overcome and even succeed."

"I just thought I'd send you a quick note to let you know how Ashley is doing.  We recently got her 504 plan finalized and have just started on on Level 3 in the Barton system. 

 

We can already see a difference with the tutoring.  She's really starting to understand how to break words apart and sound them out.  I'm not sure she ever really understood how to sound words out before. 

 

Also, she loves the balloon trick so she can figure out how to write b's and d's the correct way.  I see her using it all the time.  So far she seems to be enjoying 4th grade which we were really worried about since she struggled so much in 3rd grade."
